DJ Bunani is an Austrian DJ standing at the forefront of Brasil, soul, and latin jazz. Very few possess a depth of musical knowledge and a private record collection at his level.

He managed the cult record store Dum Dum Records, served as Head of Promotion for the label Warner Music Austria, and later worked as the record and CD buyer for 288 Libro branches. For decades, as a resident DJ, he accompanied the legendary weekly Sunday event Soul Sugar at the Volksgarten — earning him a reputation across Vienna and all of Austria as a specialist in soul and jazz, while opening doors to curate various LP and CD compilations. Through this, he made a name for himself far beyond Austria's borders.

Radio Bistoquette brings this exceptional talent back to the turntables — presenting our exclusive high-fidelity Sunday broadcast, "The Bunani Jazz Sunday": jazz, groove, and more, handpicked and in the mix, by the one and only…

DJ Bunani takes you on a journey that begins in the morning with latin jazz and accompanies the sunset with afro house. He mixes his tracks so that tonal colors and keys blend harmoniously into one another — selecting only the most outstanding cuts from the finest musicians in their craft. His record and CD archives often encompass the complete discography of these artists, making his track selection uniquely refined.

Since 2019, DJ Bunani has also focused increasingly on electronic music, creating 7 dedicated formats centered around various house genres. From contemporary bar sounds like nu-soul and lounge music in "Cocktail Lounge" to downbeat and chill house in "Sundown Mood" — both designed to gradually lift the mood in an elegant, relaxed atmosphere. His passion for Oriental and Arabic sounds, spanning continental influences across Africa, led to two additional formats: "Ethno Downbeat" for slow-tempo relaxation, and "Ethno House", which delivers those same influences at a faster, danceable tempo. "Beach Sound", true to its name, captures the ideal early-evening seaside vibe with a blend of afro house, latin house, brasil house, and groove house. "World Beat" is built for the dancefloor, exploring the same genres as "Beach Sound" but with a driving, faster edge. Finally, "Vibra Rhythm" focuses entirely on an organic mix of afro, latin, brasil, and ethno house.

Across all formats and DJ mixes, the emphasis is on harmonic transitions and a seamless thread from the first track to the last. A story needs to be told, building gentle bridges between diverse genres to weave a consistent musical arc. And above all: it has to groove.

Not to be overlooked: DJ Bunani is a trained sound engineer and deeply versed in modern mastering technology. Visualizing frequencies through precise curves, he ensures that every track, record, and CD is fully mastered before entering the mix.

Bunani holds himself to exceptionally high standards, bringing a multi-layered perfectionism to his craft. Over decades, he has forged this signature touch — refining it into a distinct sound within world music and jazz.

Experience what that means in practice every Sunday from 6:00 AM to 12:00 AM, as DJ Bunani accompanies you through the day with his versatile musical program.
